The choir was founded on February 11, 1911. The more than 100 years of choir´s existence are marked by intense artistic activities promoting its hometown and representing Portugal. A lot have done its artistic directors, including the late Maestro Fausto Neves. The choir has participated in numerous festivals and choral meetings in Portugal and abroad. Dr. Samuel Santos has been leading the choir since 2010. Members of the choir were awarded Golden medals for merits in cultural area by the Portuguese government In February 2011, commemorating 100th anniversary of the choir. The collective has performed twice in the Portuguese Parliament – it is unseen success for a Portuguese choir.
